Hyundai’s latest holiday spots directed by Kevin Smith have rolled out this month, reminding everyone that gift giving season is just around the corner. What to get Mom? What to get Dad? What will Dad get for Mom?
Kevin teamed up with Innocean creative team Ed Miller, Joe Reynoso, Scott Stevens and Will Woollett for a campaign that is a bit of a different take on the car spots we usually see during Christmas time. Instead of the surprised reaction of a brand new car in the driveway, wrapped in a bow (where do you get those gigantic-sized ribbons!), we witness the awkward retorts and disappointed thanks that happen when people receive lousy gifts.
How did you respond when you were given that horrendous sweater your Nana knitted? Shame on you – it took her frail hands months to make! What about that piece of 50% off jewelry you gave your wife? She knows how much you spent, and that face means, “I’ll just return it for what I really wanted.” The solution? Go out and buy your loved one a new Hyundai Genesis. At the very least, they’ll be surprised by your generosity.
